Story

Hey everyone

This year I am making a difference by participating in Bridge to Brisbane and walking for a Cancer Council.
As most of you know, my mum cancer when I was 9. I came home from school one day my mum and dad sat us down to tell us. My mum  was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. I had no idea what cancer was or how it was going to change our lives
She was only given 8 months to live.
In December 2018, mum was still having her check up and she asked to come back and have further test because they picked up something up on her mammogram.
I went with her to get her results. She had stage 1 triple negative breast cancer.
I remember I went outside so I could call people to let them know. First I called Kat, than my dad, Aunty Vanice, Joan and than Aunty Jane. I held it together until the last call which made me tear up as Aunty Jane just beat breast cancer herself.
First time around I was a child and I didn’t have any responsibility. This time however I was the one in charge. I made sure that someone was always with mum for all her appointments and at home if I had to work. I made sure that I had all the food and drinks that she could eat last time.
She is now in remission for the second time and I’m so proud for her to be my mum.
If it wasn’t for the people raising money, researching and helping where they can.
So I’ll be doing a 4.5k walk at the Bridge to Brisbane this August. (I might and probably will die)
Donate to our team Maranoa Murries & Co if you can or better yet JOIN ?????????
Together we can make a big impact on race day!
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.
Thank you so much for your support!
