I'm Declan. 3 years ago a doctor in Manila showed me an MRI of my brain with an interesting lump in my right frontal lobe. It was a brain tumour. "Well that explains the seizures", I thought. So I got the next flight home, got it chopped out, and fortunately it hasn't been much of a nuisance since, thanks to our world class surgeons and health care system. Given the fact that I'm here to tell you about it, I consider myself one of the lucky ones. In Australia, brain cancer tragically kills more children than any other disease. Little kids are snatched away from their parents before they've even had a chance at life. It also kills more Aussies under the age of 40 than any other cancer. The 5 year survival rate is 22%, depending on the type of tumour.

 

I'm running the Bridge to Brisbane to raise money for the ones who aren't so lucky and their families. All donations will go to the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
