QEI Healthy Eyes
Story
Together we can make a big impact on race day.
This year our team (QEI Healthy Eyes) is participating in Bridge to Brisbane and raising funds for the Queensland Eye Institute Foundation (QEIF) to buy a new electroretinogram (ERG). QEIF is Queensland’s largest independent academic research institute devoted to eye-related health and diseases.
Electroretinograms are used to diagnose and treat eye conditions, particularly retinal or optic nerve disorders. The testing is non-invasive which is key, especially when babies and children are involved. Early intervention means early diagnosis and possible treatment.
Currently with only one ERG machine in Queensland that can be used on babies, children and adults, there is a two month waiting list which is a lifetime for a family member who could have a potential life threatening disease. At a cost of $150,000 per machine, we need your help to buy a new one today so we can halve the waiting time.
With no government funding, the Queensland Eye Institute’s survival relies solely on the generosity of donors, businesses and the community.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to QEIF.
Thank you very much for your support!

Queensland Eye Institute Foundation
The Queensland Eye Institute Foundation (QEIF) is Queensland’s largest independent academic research institute devoted to eye-related health and diseases.
QEIF works every day to save sight by providing innovation and excellence in research, education and clinical care to reduce eye disease, improve eye health, and ultimately eliminate preventable blindness in the community. It does so through dedicated applied and clinical research, as well as teaching and education programs for medical students, optometrists and the general community.
With no government funding, the Queensland Eye Institute’s survival relies solely on the generosity of donors, businesses and the community.
