This year I'm going to drag my sweaty 40y/o self along 10km of bitumen, with no training and no underlying level of physical fitness -all for a cause I'm really passionate about.

Little Stars Kids is run by a lady I admire called Lisa Van Riel - and she has embarked on the gargantuan task of trying to improve the circumstance and outcomes for children in Foster Care.

I believe, that as a society we have a responsibility to look after our children and ensure they are properly cared for and as a parent, it sickens me to conceive of a child living with abuse or neglect. 

Thousands of kids in Queensland grow up in awful situations and going into foster-care can be really de-stabilising as well, even if it’s in their best interest. Lisa and her charity seek to improve the lives of foster kids through tutoring, mentoring programs and through gifts as simple as Cuddle Packs - so these kids have something to wear and snuggle when their waiting in the DOCS office to be allocated to a foster family.

What a woman, what a charity and what a good reason to get off the couch and embarrass myself in full body lycra! Also, I run like a penguin, or so my daughter Vivienne tells me. If you're there on the day, be sure to clap me along.
